'The Revelers ' to close Black Box concert series

ATHENS — Athens Area Council for the Arts brings Louisiana’s “The Revelers” to Athens on Friday, Jan. 25, to close the 2018-19 Black Box Concert Series.

AACA’s performance sponsor is Edward Jones of Athens and the Black Box Concert Series is sponsored by Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. All AACA programs are supported by premier sponsors Financial Guidance Partners, Willsonthropic Inc. – Mintie C. Willson – Willson Family Fund, Wolfenden Family Pharmacies, as well as the Tennessee Arts Commission.
The Revelers, founding members of the Red Stick Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys — “unquestionably the two groups at the vanguard of the Louisiana cultural renaissance” says one reviewer — have joined together to form a Louisiana supergroup. Equally at home on a festival main stage, a late night dance party, or a performing arts hall, the Revelers have taken their mission coast to coast in the U.S. and around the world, combining swamp-sop, Cajun, country, blues, and zydeco into a powerful tonic of roots music that could only come from Southwest Louisiana.

Adult tickets purchased in advance are $15, whereas tickets purchased at the door are $20, subject to availability. Student tickets are $10 in advance or at the door. AACA encourages patrons to purchase tickets early as seating is limited to 200 in the intimate Black Box Theater.
Tickets and more information about this and other programs of Athens Area Council for the Arts are available online at athensartscouncil.org.
