Swick receives Departmental Alumna of the Year Award

The Lee University Department of History, Political Science, and Humanities recently presented Anna Swick with the department’s Distinguished Alumna of the Year Award.
“Anna is precisely the sort of student that we hope to produce at Lee,” said Dr. Thomas Pope, associate professor of political science. “She is extraordinarily bright and motivated, but is also full of curiosity and joy. She consistently seeks God’s direction in environments where faith can often be an obstacle to success. Despite these challenges, Anna has flourished, demonstrating that political life and Christian faith need not be at odds.”
Swick graduated with a bachelor of arts in political science from Lee in 2013. Following Lee, she worked for four different United States Representatives on Capitol Hill, starting as a congressional staff assistant.
Three years later, she became communications director for a Missouri Congresswoman, directing all messages, press relations, social media, speech writing, and photography. Her overall six years of experience working for the federal government has given her a unique perspective of the political system.
“I love Washington, D.C., and have particularly enjoyed plugging into the rich faith here, said Swick.” “Lee equipped me to do that so well. I’m currently making a career pivot into a more visually creative role from communications in politics… so the adventure continues!”
Swick received the award at a departmental breakfast during Lee’s Homecoming earlier this month.
