Smoot — Cheathem

Lisa Cheathem of Cleveland became the bride of Eric Smoot of Kingston, N.Y., in an evening ceremony on Aug. 4, 2017, at Brookshire in Delaware, Ohio.

The bride is the daughter of Danny and Brenda Cheathem of Cleveland. She is the granddaughter of the late Effie Garner, the late Lloyd Kimsey and the late Lonas and Eula Mae Cheathem. She is the sister of Mark Cheathem.

The bridegroom is the son of Thomas and Dolores Smoot of Cleveland and the late Jean Smoot. He is the grandson of Bransford Smoot and the late Annette Smoot and the late Bob and Edna Ericson. He is the brother of Brian Smoot, Katy Smoot, Matt Fitzgerald and Eric Fitzgerald.

The wedding ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Smoot, the bridegroom’s father. Nuptial music was provided by Dr. Richard Smoot, the bridegroom’s uncle. A special reading was given by the bride’s brother, Mark.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Christy Jones as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Caitlin Dugger, Michele Hoelscher, Gwen DeRosa, and the bride’s nieces, Laney Cheathem and Allison Cheathem.

Charlie Kessler served the bridegroom as best man. Groomsmen were the bridegroom’s brothers: Brian, Matt and Eric.

The bridegroom’s niece, Ariella Fitzgerald, was flower girl. The bride’s nephew, David Cheathem, was ring bearer.

The reception was held at the Brookshire.

The couple, who will take a wedding trip to Puerto Rico in the spring of 2018, resides in Delaware, Ohio.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Smoot are graduates of Tennessee Wesleyan College. Mrs. Smoot is employed by PCA Choice Pharmacy in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Smoot is employed by Miracle-Gro of Marysville, Ohio. Both are members of Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Columbus.
