The third-annual Scenic City Scorcher will be held on Saturday morning, July 22, with the certified two-mile race beginning at 7:30 from 551 River Street near Coolidge Park.

The race, which is flat and extremely fast, is limited to 175 entries and is a perfect course for setting state records.

Christian Thompson had the fastest time in 2016 when he posted a record-breaking 9:39 while female winner Rachel Mason did the same with her winning effort of 11:55.

Richard Guiry and Chase Faudi were second and third place overall last year with times of 9:58 and 10:41 while Victoria Winslow and Paige Thompson were second and third among the ladies with times of 12:00 and 12:21.

All established new records as 55 new marks were recorded, including 33 among the men and 22 among the women.

Online registration will be available until midnight on Thursday, July 20. Packet pickup will be Saturday morning from 6 until 7:15 a.m. and race-day registration will also start then until the field fills up.

Contact race director Stacey Malecky at ScorcherRD@chattanoogatrackclub.org for additional information.
