Robert Leon Lindner, 77, of Sauk Village, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from LTV Steel. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Frances Smotherman Lindner; parents: Chester and Josephine Burchfield Lindner; brother, Fred Lindner; and brother-in-law, Homer Garren.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlene (Jim) Slawnikowski; grandsons: Jimmy (Aly) and Stan Slawnikowski; sister, Wilma Garren and her children: James (Chloey) Garren, Bill (Sue) Garren, Ruth (Charles) Patton, Ray (Kay) Garren, and Sarah (Ted) Swafford; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Pete Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
