Robert Lamb


Robert “Bob” Nelson Lamb died peacefully at home on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, in Cleveland, at the age of 90.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Jones Lamb; daughter, Jennie DeCook (Randy) of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Deborah Lamb of Etowah; sister, Darlene Holm of Blue Springs, Mo.; grandchildren: Robert J. Lamb (Ashley) of Livingston,  Tiffany L. Wilcox of Niota, Casey R. DeCook of Cleveland, and Thomas J. DeCook of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by a son, Russell N. Lamb; sisters: Jean Croft, June Wethington, Juanita Artall, and Gladys Nixon; and five great-grandsons.

Bob was born on Oct. 19, 1928, in Lee’s Summit, Mo., to Nye and Lona Nixon. He was adopted by Robert and Reatha Lamb following the death of his biological mother.

He graduated from Baker University in Baldwin, Kan., in 1951 where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He married Jo Ann Jones on Dec. 29, 1952.

Bob received his naval aviator wings at Pensacola, Fla., in December of 1952, and spent 24 years as a Navy pilot serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following retirement, the family resided in Florida and Georgia, finally settling in East Tennessee in 1990.

A Celebration of Life memorial and gathering for close friends and family will be held at the Museum Center at Five Points in Cleveland, between 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019.

A short eulogy will be presented at 1:30 p.m. by close friend, Larry Grimes.

At a later date, a graveside service with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Benton.

Higgins Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of the arrangements.
