Road work continues in Ocoee River Gorge

Posted

The Tennessee Department of Transportation continues to disrupt traffic along U.S. Highway 64, through the Ocoee Gorge in Polk County.

Construction of a concrete bulb-T beam bridge over the Branch and Tennessee Overhill Heritage Association (TOHA) Old Line Railroad is creating the need for intermittent lane closures.

This construction project includes grading, drainage and paving.

The contractor is working to cut the embankment for a retaining wall.

Due to safety concerns at the intersection of Pinecrest Road and U.S. 64, the Pinecrest Road intersection is being closed for the duration of the construction.

There will be posted detour signs for residents to get to their homes on Pinecrest Road.

The construction is expected to be between four and six weeks, weather permitting. The estimated completion date is May.
