Ray Clifford Baker

Ray Clifford Baker, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017.

He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ray was an avid outdoorsman who loved everything from hunting and fishing to trail riding and much more. He lettered all four years at Bradley Central High School in football and was an exceptional baseball player. He worked at Bowater paper mill and then for the postal service before he retired.

He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Myrtle Baker; sister, Deloris Finnel; and great-granddaughter, Zoey Tinsley. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joan Baker; children: Tracy (Ron) Plank, and Tyler (Stephanie) Baker; brothers: Raymond (Mary) Baker and Hoyle (Lynn) Baker; grandchildren: Kristi, Chad (Brooke), Kyle Karlie Brumfiel; Callie, Joshlyn, Ty and Eryn Baker; six great-grandchildren; and many other close family and friends. 

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the service at Companion Funeral Home, 2419 Georgetown Road N.W.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
