The Cleveland Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division, along with the assistance of the Community Relations Unit, conducted a sex offender compliance check Tuesday evening.
Teams of officers were sent out to verify the addresses of the 75 sex offenders registered in the city of Cleveland. According to Sgt. Evie West, CPD Public Information Officer, the operation was successful.
One of the requirements of the sex offender registry are annual fees of $150, part of which is provided to the Cleveland Police Department by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to be used for enforcement activities and equipment. This year, a 2014 Ford Taurus was purchased for the Criminal Investigations Division with these funds.
The public is able to check on sex offenders in their communities by accessing http://sor.tbi.tn.gov/SOMainpg.aspx
