Pat Hendrix

Pat Hendrix, 70, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Dec. 3, 2017.

She had many hobbies, including metal detecting and collecting artifacts, and more recently was very active into genealogy.

She was an instrumental member in the Meigs County Museum and Historical Society. But more than anything, she loved her family. She will dearly missed by all that knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Theodore Lewis and Dorothy McNabb Layman; grandson, Stephen Lewis Whitmire; and daughter, Samantha Renee Whitmire.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 51 years, Byron Hendrix; son, Sammy Whitmire; grandsons, Alex Jordan Whitmire and Tyler Whitmire; granddaughter, Amy Whitmire; great-granddaughter, Laynee SaRae Whitmire; sisters, Joyce Nastvogle and Phyllis Roundtree; a sister-in-law who was like a sister, Brenda Russell; and numerous extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at 6 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, 2419 Georgetown Road N.W.

The family will receive friends two hours prior, from 4 to the 6 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Below is an email that Ms. Paulette Jones, director of the Meigs County Museum and Historical Society, sent out after Ms. Pat’s passing:

“It is with much sadness that I report the death of our dear Historical Society member and special friend Pat Hendrix. ... She was an asset to our Society and did most of the research for the many inquiries we received. She never charged for her time and just asked that people make a donation to the Historical Society. [For] many years these donations sustained us. She never missed a meeting and was always so sweet and thoughtful to each of us. Our prayers and thoughts go to her husband, Byron, and granddaughter, Laynee, and the rest of the family.

Pat and Byron had visited my home yesterday afternoon while out roaming around her beloved Meigs County, which she was so devoted to.
I and the rest will miss her greatly.
