Ott commissioned as 2Lt. in Marine Corps

On Nov. 16, Solomon Nicholas Ott from Cleveland graduated from Officer Candidates School. He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps at Quantico, Va. 
He follows a long line of Otts in service to his country.  His namesake, Solomon Julian Ott was a soldier in the United States Army and fought in France during World War I as a Choctaw Code Talker. 
His grandfather, Bill Ott, of Springfield, Va., flew S-2Fs in the United States Navy during the Korean War. His father, Captain David Ott, U.S. Navy (retired), was a combat aviator flying the A-6 Intruder and EA-6B Prowler aircraft. 
Solomon is a graduate of Catholic High School in Virginia Beach and 2017 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan University. 
After moving with his family to Cleveland, Solomon worked for Ben Calfee of Clyde Calfee’s and Sons Well Drilling while his OCS package was staffed. 
Solomon will complete instruction at The Basic School at Quantico, Va., in May 2020 with follow on orders to Naval Air Station Pensacola for flight training.
