The next meeting of the Ocoee Region Beekeepers Association will be Feb. 19, 7 p.m., at the municipal building at 6496 Hwy. 411 in Benton.

Derrick Forrest will be talking about beekeeping equipment, what is needed from day one and going forward, types of hives and the thermal mite control.

Ocoee beekeepers to meet Feb. 19

The next meeting of the Ocoee Region Beekeepers Association will be Feb. 19, 7 p.m., at the municipal building at 6496 Highway 411 in Benton.
Derrick Forrest will be talking about beekeeping equipment, what is needed from day one and going forward, types of hives and the thermal mite control.

An experienced beekeeper, Forrester is president of a beekeepers' club in LaFayette, Ga., a member of TBA, GBA and TVBA and a sales rep for a number of beekeeping equipment companies.

There will also be a panel discussion on current concerts facing beekeepers.

The club will have three hive grants for new beekeepers available. They will be giving away a hive start-up kit, if you qualify. There will also be a few bee packages available for members to order.

Individuals interested in beekeeping are invited to visit.
