Nelda Vian McCarter, 87, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at her home, with her family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1932, in McDonald, to Joe F. and Euline Schabell.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William E. McCarter; siblings: Howard Schabell, Franklin Schabell and Nada Lea Lauderback; and grandson, Jacob Woodby.
Nelda was an intelligent woman with immense inner strength, resilience and an unshakable faith that lived to make the lives of everyone around her better. Her Infectious laughter and smile will be missed dearly every day.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Renee Woodby; son, Nathan McCarter; brother, Grady Schabell and his wife, Betty Nell; granddaughter, Jessica Woodby-Denema and her husband, Peter; and great-grandson, Job Woodby.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, Sept. 16, 2020, at Lee Cemetery in McDonald.
