Miriam Weaver Cornwell
Miriam Weaver Cornwell, 91, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.
Born and raised in Scottsville, Ky., she was a resident of Nashville for more than 50 years. She attended college at Western Kentucky University and enjoyed a long career with MetLife, in office management. She was very proud to be one of the “Girls of Atomic City” at Oak Ridge, where she worked during World War II.
She was preceded in death by her parents, May and Warren Weaver; sisters, Mildred, Gertrude, Marjorie and Nathalie; brother, Edward; and loving husband, William Frank Cornwell.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving son, William David Cornwell; daughter-in-law, Lynna Webb Cornwell; nieces: Lynn McGuffey (Bryan), Susan Eblen (Tom), and Margaret Turner (Cal); and nephews: George Newman (Jane), John Newman (Jane), Mark Towe (Doris), Tyler Towe (Ronnie), Tom Yates and Bob Weaver.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be planned in 2018.
