Mike DeLay, 64, of Cleveland, stepped into glory on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020.
Born on Dec. 15, 1955, Mike was destined to make an impact. He stepped into his call of ministry on March 18, 1998. He was known for many things, but his “Great Faith” outshined them all.
He was a loyal and dedicated husband and a loving and nurturing father. He was the best papaw that ever stepped on this earth.
He was a great leader who served countless people, including his country, in the United States Army. He was a spirit-filled, phenomenal minister whose great faith and prayers helped so many. His wisdom was beyond his years and everyone who knew him said so.
He led by example. He led a life of honesty and integrity. His humor and joy will live forever in our hearts. His legacy of faith will continue through his wife, children, grandchildren and future generations.
This is not the end; it’s simply a new beginning. Mike is loved and cherished beyond the description of words. His life made an impact, and will continue to make an impact.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Faye DeLay; and siblings: Ronnie DeLay and Joy DeLay.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Melissa; adored children: LaManda DeLay Bowers, Michael DeLay and wife and Courtney; papaw's spoiled grandchildren: Emma Evans, Hannah Bowers, Elijah DeLay and Isaiah DeLay; sisters: Gayla Guy and husband, Willie, and Tammy Couch and husband, Terry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he dearly loved, all of Cleveland.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at Ocoee Church of God, with the Rev. Michael Whitmire and the Rev. Michael DeLay officiating.
Interment will follow at Lee Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tony DeLay, Nick Guy, Patrick Guy, Zach Couch, T.J. DeLay and Brody Balilies. Honorary pallbearers include: Brandon Ellis, Dustin Ellis and Casey Key.
A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
