The Merchants and Friends of Etowah will be hosting the return of award-winning Elvis tribute artist Matt Cordell on March 16, at the historic Gem Theater in Etowah.
“It’s going to be one night, one show, all Elvis, with Matt Cordell performing,” noted Maxine Jones, Merchants and Friends event coordinator.
Cordell began his career more than 20 years ago and it has taken him all over the U.S., as well as performances in other countries and on cruises. He has won numerous awards for his Elvis tributes through competitions sponsored by Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Cordell’s favorite songs are the many gospel songs Presley performed, who was nominated for 14 Grammys; however, the three Grammys he won were for his gospel songs, “How Great Thou Art” twice and “He Touched Me.”
Cordell will perform some of your favorite Presley gospel songs, as well as many of the rock and pop songs he made No. 1.
“Just remember,” Cordell said, “I will only sing songs recorded and performed by Elvis Presley.”
