Mary Ulanda Lawson


Mary Ulanda Lawson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at home after a long battle with cancer. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Dean Lawson; her parents: James Riley and Mary Duluth Morris; brothers: Roger Morris and Gene Morris; and sister, Betty Miller.

She lived in Charleston all of her life, working at Cleveland Chair for 30 years. She was of Church of God faith and attended Zion Assembly Church of God.

She is survived by her son, James Bart Lawson; daughter-in-law, Cindy Lawson; two grandsons: Elijah Lawson (Ashleigh Murphey) and Cody Lawson (Candace Bruns); two great-grandsons: Cyrus Lawson and Braiden Lawson; two sisters: Sandy Morris and Ellen Ross; three brothers: Leonard Morris, Phil Morris (JoAnn) and James Morris (Mary); five sister-in-laws: Debbie Morris, Pat Morris, Pam Bramlett, Theresa Orders and Cheryl Roton; and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service and interment will be private for the family at New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Anton Burnette officiating.  Elijah Lawson, Cody Lawson, Leonard Morris, James Morris, Timothy Morris and Alonzo Jones will serve as casket bearers. 

A Remembrance of Life service will be held for family and friends at a later time. The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremations Services, North Ocoee Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
