Margaret Woodall Browne


Margaret Woodall Browne, 102, of Cleveland and formerly of Atlanta, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021, at Garden Plaza Assisted Living in Cleveland.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the Woodland Cemetery, with the Rev. Dan Dixon officiating.

She was born November 18, 1918, in Woodland, Ga., the daughter of Robert Baugh Woodall, Sr. and Samantha Eldee Griffin Woodall.

She graduated from Woodland High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in library science from Emory University. She retired from the state of Georgia regional library system as a librarian.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church. She was the widow of Russell Alexander Browne.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Emily Woodall McCleskey; her brother, Robert Baugh Woodall Jr.; her nephew, Walter Scott McCleskey; and two nieces: Charlotte Browne Wright and Catherine McCleskey Oliver.

Survivors include two nieces: Margaret McCleskey Smith of Cleveland and Rachel Woodall Thomas of Deep River, Conn.; two nephews: Robert Baugh Woodall, III of Charlottesville, Va., and Charles L. Browne of Baltimore, Md.; seven great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

Cox Funeral Home, Manchester, Ga., is assisting the family with arrangements.
