Lorena L. Fowler, 97, a resident of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at the family residence. 

She was surrounded by her loving children and family. 

She was the daughter of the late Dovie Beard Sampson and J.W. Sampson.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Norman Fowler; her son, Larry Fowler; her great-granddaughter, Hope Fowler; her sons-in-law: Harold Smith and David Greene; her sisters: Winona Sampson, Luewona Smith and Enola King; and her brothers: Gerald Sampson and Darrell Sampson. 

She was a selfless, godly woman who put the Lord first and then her family.  She loved to have all of her family together.  She loved to cook for them and have everyone at her house. She was a hard worker, retiring at the age of 88 from the Cleveland City Schools. She loved to garden and can. She was considered a wonderful cook.  She had a true servant's heart. 

She loved her church, and she was a member of the Washington Baptist Church for 44 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Loretta Harvey, and her husband, August; her son, Terry Fowler, and his wife, Faye; her daughter, Debbie Cannon and her husband, John; her daughter, Pat Greene; her daughter-in-law, Nina Fowler; grandchildren: Danny Smith and his wife, Kim, Tonya Knox and her husband, Keith, Candy Clark and her husband, Mikey, Susan Beals and her husband, Todd, Terry "Chuck" Fowler and his wife, April, Larry Fowler and his wife, Kelly, Gerald Fowler and his wife, Kendall, Christi Pearson and her husband, Kelly, Myca Py and her husband, R.J., Zach Cannon and his wife, Sierra; great-grandchildren, Dustin Clark and his wife, Dawn, Daniel Smith and his wife, Amber, Tanner Clark and his wife, Candace, Alicia Smith and her husband, Will, Holly Wilson and her husband, James, Jennifer Formont, Emily Danniels and her husband, Keith, Matthew Smith, Christopher Clark, Hannah Patterson and her husband, Jonathon, Erica Fowler, Kacie Fowler, Ben Fowler, Nathan Fowler, Rachael Fowler, Caleb Pearson, Lily Fowler, and Jack Py; her great-great-grandchildren, Nora Smith, Dean Clark, Braydon Wilson, Annabelle Smith, Neyland Formont Ryman Clark, Holden Patterson, Loralai Smith and Jackson Danniels; and several nieces and nephew.
 
The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 11, 2018, at 4 p.m. at the Washington Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Vaughn and the Rev. Jason Barnes officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandsons, Zach Cannon, Larry Fowler, Gerald Fowler, Terry "Chuck" Fowler, Danny Smith and Daniel Smith serving as casket bearers. 

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the Washington Avenue Baptist Church. 

The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation services, Wildwood Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
