Frances Lattimore Higgins, 75, of Etowah, passed away peacefully at her home
on Monday, March 18, 2019.
She was born in Cleveland on Dec. 17, 1943, to the late Frances and Henry Lattimore.
She moved at age 7 to Cleveland, Ohio, so that her father could find work. Upon her return in 1968, she married the love of her life, Hershell E. Higgins.
Linda was blinded in her right eye due to an accident, and has been legally blind in both eyes for 10 years. She fiercely missed driving and her independence due to her blindness. Her family is rejoicing in knowing her vision is now perfect, and she has no pain! To God be the Glory!
Her life included many rewarding occupations, all of which she enjoyed. She worked at Superior Brush Company while in Ohio, then upon returning to Cleveland she worked at Bendix Corporation. She then took off time to raise her precious daughter, Jody Ann. Later she worked alongside her husband, Hershell, remodeling homes for resale, now known as “flipping.” After Hershell’s retirement in 2001, they moved to Etowah, where she beautifully restored the historic Cantrell home where she resided until her passing.
She was a devoted member of Cambria Baptist Church in Etowah.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings; an infant sister, Henrietta Lattimore; sister, Virginia Hall Thompson; brother, Henry Lattimore; and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Hershell E. Higgins of Etowah; her precious daughter, Jody Ann Waddell (Dee) of Cleveland; special nieces, and nephews: Robin Shadden (Jeff) and Michael Hall (Risa) of Cleveland, Laura Lattimore Price and Bob Lattimore (Therese) of Medina, Ohio; sister-in-law, Veronica Lattimore of Medina, Ohio; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Homegoing for Linda Higgins will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home, with Brother Eddie Rowland and Brother Alex Cain officiating.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Cambria Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dee Waddell, Dylan Higgins, Michael Hall, Doug Higgins, Jeff Shadden and Luke Shadden serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m on Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Cambria Baptist Church, 305 County Road 875, Etowah, TN 37331; or a charity of your choice.
