Lee sending 7 athletes to championships

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2019 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Lee University will account for seven of the 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, that will compete in the championships.


Justin Brooks and Josiah Brooks led the way for Lee after being selected for three events. Both will compete in the 200-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay. Justin posted the 13th-best time in the event this season and Josiah’s best time was No. 23.


Justin was ninth runner selected for the 400-meter dash, while Josiah was the 16th athlete added to the triple jump.


Joining Justin and Josiah in the 4x400 relay are Jeremiah McCain and Siphosethu Boya. The relay team was tied for the third-best time among the 14 teams chosen.


Christian Noble was selected for the 3000-meter steeplechase with the No. 6 mark this season. Noble is also listed as an alternate for the 4x400-meter relay team.


Charlee Boxall and Chloe Flora will represent the Lady Flames. Boxall is the 15th of 20 runners selected for the 1500-meter run. Flora is No. 19 in a field of 23 in the 5000-meter run.


The championships will be held May 23-25 in Kingsville, Texas, at Javelina Stadium. Texas A&M University-Kingsville will serve as the host of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com each day.
