Lawrence Wade Boring, 88, of Benton, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at his home. 

He was a member and retired deacon of the First Baptist Church of Benton. He retired from M&M Mars in 1993 and was also a retired farmer.

He was a past master of the Masonic Conasauga Lodge396 F&AM and a past patron of the Order of The Eastern Star Chapter Ocoee 420.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oscar and Essie Broomfield Boring; brothers: Vance Boring and Ervin Boring; and sister and brother-in-law, Ella Sue and Arlie Eldridge.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Vestal Boring of Benton; son and daughter-in-law, Ervin and Sharon Boring, of Navarre, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Garlinda and Terry Moses of Athens; grandchildren and spouses: April and Brad Johnston of Athens and Jeremy and Cassy Moses of Knoxville; great-grandchildren: Anson Johnston and Aubrey Johnston of Athens and Chloe Moses and Blaine Moses of Knoxville; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Boring of Athens, Ga., Geneva Broomfield and Betty (George) Martin of Cleveland.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Lebanon Baptist Church with Pastor Robbie Spikes and Pastor Chris Everhart officiating.

Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Jeremy Moses, Brad Johnston, Anson Johnston, Kent Broomfield, Jerry Witt and Dave Milan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Blaine Moses, Terry Moses, Phillip Culpepper and Ronnie Beard.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the church prior.
