Cleveland State cross country runner Sadie Lane officially committed to a four-year institution Tuesday, signing with Missouri Valley College to run cross country and track, as well as cheer competitively.

Lane will be one of 10 athletes on campus to compete in multiple sports for the Vikings. She also will be receiving academic aid thanks to her strong GPA.

Lane ran women's cross country for Cleveland State in 2018-19 and is currently closing out her cheerleading career for the Lady Cougars in 2020. During this time, Lane was the top runner for the Lady Cougars in two meets and also set strong personal bests. She was also named cheerleading captain for the 2019-20 season. Academically, she was named to the NJCAA All-Academic American First Team for 2018-19 and earned a spot on the TCCAA All-Academic Achievement team for the 2018-19 season.

“I am beyond proud of Sadie,” said last season’s interim cross country head coach Lindsey Beck. “She works incredibly hard in all she does and is an amazing teammate and leader. I have no doubt she will find success at Missouri Valley. The Vikings are receiving not only a great athlete, but an amazing person. She will be missed on campus and on her sports teams.”

Missouri Valley, located in Marshall, Mo., competes in the NAIA Division I Heart of America conference.
