Kenneth Ray Tarpley Sr.

Kenneth Ray Tarpley Sr., 85, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at a health care facility in Knoxville.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

He was formerly a salesperson at the Cleveland Daily Banner for 16 years. He was later involved in real estate and commercial sign sales.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lynn Tarpley; parents, Arnold and Edith Tarpley; and sisters: Inez Jones and Marlene Hall; and brother, Warren Tarpley.

Survivors include his children: Connie Tarpley of Key West, Fla., and Ken Tarpley Jr. and wife, Donna, of Knoxville; four grandchildren: Caleb Tarpley of Chattanooga, Aaron Tarpley of Knoxville, Rebekkah Tarpley of Fort Lauderdale, and Autumn Tarpley of Knoxville; great-grandchild, Kyrie Tarpley; sister, Hazel Strassburg (Jim) of Cleveland; brother, David Tarpley (Pat) of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Jeannine Tarpley of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 28, 2018, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Philip Caines officiating.

Private interment will be held on Monday in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

His family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
