Kenneth Johnston


Kenneth Rogers Johnston, 88, of Cleveland, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, in a local healthcare facility.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years of service, and was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Shuler Johnston; parents, M.L. Johnston Sr. and Nellie Mae Collins Johnston; children: Stephen Johnston, Debbie Bunch and Kenneth Wendell Johnston; brothers: James Johnston and M L. Johnston,Jr.; sister, Gwyneth “Pete” Haney; and granddaughter, Adrienne Johnston.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Johnston Bennett and husband, Keith, of Birmingham, Ala.; five grandchildren: Mandy Bunch Leslie and husband, Brandon, of Cleveland, Matthew Johnston and wife, Jessie, of California, Blair Bennett of Hoover Ala., James Bennett and wife, Whitney, of Moulton, Al., and Laura Bennett Braddock and husband, Skyler, of Hoover, Ala.; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lossalie “Pud” Phipps and husband, Bobby, of Cartersville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and special family members, Teresa and Willard Moses, and Wilma and Don Mull.

The funeral will be conducted at noon on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Moore officiating.

Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, with full military honors.

His family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
