Judy Baker will be the speaker for Thursday's Allied Arts Council’s Artisan Workshop Series program called “Be a Storyteller.”
The storytelling session begins at 7 p.m. at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, 225 Keith St. The cost is $5.
Growing up in a town with only one piano teacher made it difficult to take piano lessons. Never mind the fact that there was no piano in the house. But creativity is creativity, and Baker found magic in the written word. And, after attending a Tellabration event, she found magic in the land of story.
A lover of both the written and spoken word, Baker has led workshops teaching the importance of story as communication, and helped attendees develop their own stories.
Traditional tales, personal stories, folk tales, legends and stories about things that go bump in the night are all stories Baker loves to tell and retell.
This is a family-friendly event and attendees will learn the basics of storytelling and how to create a story.
The remaining workshops in the series will be held June 21: “Be a Movie Critic,” with Rob Alderman of the Alderman Group; and “Be a Songwriter” on June 28 with Tim Poteet, singer and songwriter.
