Jimmy Owens


Jimmy Hubert Owens, 82, a resident of Benton, went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at his residence with his loving family at his side.

He was born on June 10, 1937, and attended Greasy Creek Elementary as a young boy. He gave his heart to Jesus in October of 2017 and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids and dog, Corky, who were all his pride and joy. He will truly be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Cronan Owens; parents, Luther and Cora Cochran Owens; and siblings: Eskell Owens, George Owens, Frank Owens, Johnny Owens, Blanche Rymer, Marie Couey, Frances Wright and Janie Owens.

Survivors include his loving daughters: Penny (Terry) Stonecipher and Melissa Andies and boyfriend, Robert Bryson; grandchildren: Jacqueline Stonecipher and Lauren Stonecipher; great-grandchildren: Brieliegh Green and twin sister, Braeliegh Green, Adam Shawn Lee Bremmer Jr. and Braydon Green; sister, Etta Bee Goforth; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton with Pastor Jake Brown and Pastor Carl Haulk officiating.

Interment will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
