Jewell Fay Parker, 74, of Lenoir, N.C., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir.
Born Jan. 16, 1945, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late Gertie Mae Alloway and Luther Fannin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eldest son, U.S. Army Specialist Joseph Smith.
Jewell owned a number of successful businesses, starting with a clothes shop, Fay’s Fabrics, in the heart of Cleveland, in the early 1970s. She ran a successful drapery shop, Window Treatments by Fay, for many years in Cleveland, and Custom Interiors in Hickory, N.C. She also had a career as an award-winning Realtor for Century 21 and Odom Realty.
Aside from her career, she was a very strong, independent woman. Fay, as she liked to be called, was a devoted mother and “Nana,” instilling love, patience, kindness, and generosity in her children, their children, and the children to come.
