James Arlen Meeks Sr., 91, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Sept.11, 2017.
He loved fishing, football, boxing and going to the Smoky Moutains with his kids. He was also a very skilled upholster.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; father and mother, John and Bonnie; grandfather, Luke Brown “Daddy Brown”; brothers: Bill Kelly, Jack Kelly and Franklin Cavitt; and sister, Virginia Stevison.
He is survived by his brothers: Jerry Cavitt and Dickie Cavitt; children: James Meeks Jr., Shirlene (Mickey) Hewitt, and Mitchell (Patricia) Meeks; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at 4 p.m. at the Companion Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 2 to the 4 p.m. service time.
