With the big show set to open next week, it's time for the dress rehearsal, as the annual high school football jamborees are on tap tonight.

All four local teams will be in action at three different sites, giving fans a glimpse of the upcoming gridiron season.

Bradley Central and Walker Valley will once again head to Chattanooga, while Cleveland High will cross the river to Evensville and Polk County makes the short trek up U.S. 411 to Englewood for the final pigskin preseason practice games.

The Blue Raiders will get the action started at 6 p.m. against Lenoir City on the turf at Rhea County High School. The Cleveland freshmen will follow in a scrimmage period against the Panthers as well.

Meanwhile, the Big Red Train from Benton will do battle against Sweetwater at 7:30 in the  action at McMinn Central High School.

The Bears and Mustangs will both head to Finley Stadium to square off against Chattanooga private school powers McCallie and Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are coming off a state runner-up finish last season.

Although the two-day event will begin at 5:30, the two Bradley County teams won't take the turf until a little later in the evening.

Walker Valley will kick off the local action at 8 p.m. battling the Fighting Irish, before Bradley will follow at 8:30 against the same squad.

The lineup will be the same for the final two quarters of the evening with the Mustangs galloping against McCallie at 9, with the Bears taking on the Blue Tornado in the 9:30 finale.

Playing in the earlier action this evening in the Scenic City will be Chattanooga Christian, Sale Creek, East Ridge, Lookout Valley, Tyner and Hixson.

Back at Finley on Saturday, starting at 4:30, Ooltewah, Red Bank, Chattanooga Central and Boyd-Buchanan will debut new head coaches, while Soddy-Daisy, Howard, Brainerd, Grace Academy, Signal Mountain, Baylor and East Hamilton will also show their wares.

The regular season will kick off Thursday, when Walker Valley and Chattanooga Central will reunite at Finley Stadium for a 6 p.m. start.

Next Friday, Bradley will travel to Knoxville to take on Farragut, while Cleveland and Polk County will host Rhea County and Copper Basin respectively.
