Step into the boots of today’s U.S. Army soldier

New campaign immerses recruits in virtual reality Army experiences

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Recruiting Battalion announced the U.S. Army's new immersive recruitment campaign, which allows prospects to step into the boots of a U.S. Army Soldier through virtual reality, today.

The series of high-intensity missions will let prospects peek behind the curtain and see, hear and feel what it is like to be a U.S. Army Soldier, unlike ever before.

The campaign is based on a compilation of authentic Army missions and offers prospective recruits a chance to experience what it’s like to be a U.S. Army Special Operations sniper, unmanned aircraft systems operator, tank commander and explosive ordnance disposal technician as they lead their teams behind enemy lines, neutralize threats and support Special Forces teams under fire.

Recent studies indicate that 50 percent of young Americans know little to nothing about the military. Georgia and Tennessee face additional challenges, including informing youth of the benefits of an Army enlistment.

“This campaign, based on actual missions, bridges the gap and gives prospects a glimpse into what to expect if they choose to serve in certain career fields,” said Lt. Col. Fred Parker. “We hope the interactive virtual reality experiences will inspire and inform brave young men and women when it comes to considering a future in the Army.”

At its core, the campaign’s first-person storytelling and 360-degree video series offers a unique and authentic look at the versatility, lethality and readiness of today’s U.S. Army, as well as how Soldiers use teamwork and extensive training to overcome the most extreme obstacles.

By allowing prospective recruits to walk in the virtual boots of a Soldier, the campaign highlights what they may experience in certain career paths and how the U.S. Army prepares for and overcomes ever-changing and complex demands.

The integrated campaign will roll out through digital media, direct mail, email and social media components, as well as via In Our Boots apps available for download on iOS, Google Play and Oculus Go stores. Additional information about the numerous careers, benefits and training available in the U.S. Army is available on the campaign’s landing experience – – online.
