Howard W. Goins

Howard W. Goins, 89, a resident of Old Fort, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the family residence.

He was so ready to meet his Jesus! He was born in Cleveland, and was the son of the late Ellen "Tiny" Carr Goins and Lozier Goins.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Hayes Goins; his second wife, Rosezine Ross Powell Goins; his sisters: June Mooneyham Allman, Faye Evans, and Barbara Herron and her husband, H.N.; his brothers: Johnny, Roy and Leonard Goins; and his stepson, Terry Ross.

At a very early age, he and his brothers, Johnny and Roy, had to help provide for their family of 10. So, he has always been a hard worker to provide for his own family. He was a truck driver most of his life, driving for Burlington, Cleveland Ready Mix, Bradley Concrete and Lambert Concrete. He loved driving for Lambert until his age forced him to retire.

He truly loved animals and treated them like people. Sharing his last years with him was his dog "Baby," a spoiled rotten friend and companion that he loved so much. He also loved the outdoors. He loved family and always tried to help others in need. He will be truly missed.

He attended the Evening Light Gospel Tabernacle and Samples Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Beaty and her husband, Clinton, of Cleveland; his sons: Dr. Larry W. Goins and his wife, Melanie, of Knoxville, and Timothy Goins and his girlfriend, Joyce, of Benton; his grandchildren: Stephanie Sewell and her husband, Sam, Erin Goins and her husband, Roy, Patrick Goins and his wife, Christina, Chandler Goins and his wife, Alexa, Adam Goins, and Missy Collins and her husband, Bo; his great-grandchildren: Gage Matott, Gavin Sewell, Keegan Goins, Jacob Long and Keeley Collins; his sisters: Joyce Hall and her husband, Cecil, and Climmie Freeman; his brother, Jimmy Goins and his wife, Phyliss; his extended family, Sheila Cameron and her husband, Anthony Cameron, Jane Creassy and her husband, Don, Sharon Cavitt and her husband, Marvin, Rick Ross and his wife, Treba; his special family: Barbara Raburn and her husband, Ronnie, Muriel Dean Hayes, Francis Goins, Mabel Hayes, and Bonnie Hayes; and his many nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life graveside service will be conducted today, June 28, 2020, at 3:30 p.m. at Lee Cemetery in McDonald, with the Rev. Bill Beaty officiating. His grandsons, who are honored to walk him to his resting place, Patrick Goins, Gage Matott, Gavin Sewell, Keegan Goins, Chandler Goins, Adam Goins, Rondell Rayburn and Jacob Long, are serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. today at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, Wildwood Chapel.
