Fred Carpenter Sr., 78, of Cleveland, formerly of Signal Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, Feb 20, 2019.
He was a well-known carpenter and a well-loved father, grandfather and husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sadie Carpenter; granddaughter, Emily K. Carpenter; brothers, Clark and Henry Carpenter; and sister, Rachel Dill.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Denton Carpenter; children: Susan Pickle, Tina Horne, Fred Carpenter Jr.; Teresa Watson, Amy Ashe, and Adam Carpenter; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, John “Bud” Carpenter; and sisters, Mary Ellen Gervis and JoAnn Cagle.
The family will receive friends at Companion Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. today with burial to follow at Lee Cemetery.
