Floyd Thomas Stokes
Floyd Thomas Stokes, 88, of Georgetown, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018.
He was born on June 16, 1930, to the late Floyd Thomas Stokes and Sallie Marie Wagner Stokes.
Floyd was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served for three years and attained the rank of corporal. He had lived in Georgetown all of his life, and was a member of the Church of Christ. He served as a gospel preacher of the Michigan Avenue Road Church of Christ. He loved to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria M. Stokes; three sisters; and one brother.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter, Sally Marie Cooksey (James “Bo” Cooksey); son Larry Stokes (Roxann); three sisters: Dale Ray, Tina Ellis, and Nancy Malone; two brothers, Lawrence Stokes and Herbert Stokes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
A graveside service with full military honors will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at McInturff Cemetery. Barry Smith and Rodney Pitts will be officiating.
