The 43rd annual Matt Ellis and Lynn Gobble BBQ preparation is underway. The barbecue fundraiser is planning for both lunch and dinner on Friday.

The men of First United Methodist Church are busy wrapping and baking potatoes, shredding and making cole slaw, pulling pork smoked at Sunshine Hollow by Dave Rhyne, baking beans and grilling chicken breasts. The women of the church are preparing desserts to feed approximately 1,000.

Lunch will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., and dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. You will be able to eat in or carry out. Lunch delivery is possible if orders are placed ahead of time by calling 423-476-4504.

Proceeds from the barbecue fundraiser will benefit First United Methodist men’s mission projects. These include The Caring Place, Sacred Road Ministries, Camp Lookout and its youth scholarships, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Mary Diana Samuel Children’s Home, Cleveland Emergency Shelter, the Scottish Rite Shoe Ministry, Trek Thru Truth, and the cub and Boy Scout programs sponsored by FUMC.

The cost of the meal is only $8.
