A resource para-professional at E.L. Ross Elementary School, Katie Chapman, helped capture a squirrel on the loose at the school a few weeks ago. Chapman reportedly grabbed the squirrel barehanded and assisted the school resource officer. She was bitten on her right hand and had to get a tetanus shot, but said later she was glad to know the children were safe. Principal Lisa Earby said she and the school's staff "are grateful for Mrs. Chapman's brave act."
