The 10th District Attorney General’s office has announced it will hold a public meeting this week to discuss the outcome of a lawsuit against two local cemeteries.

Assistant D.A. Drew Robinson said the office has entered into a consent agreement with the owners of Hilcrest Memorial Gardens and Sunset Memorial Gardens regarding the upkeep and maintenance of those facilities.

The agreement comes after the DA filed suit against the owner last year after receiving numerous complaints including broken headstones, overgrown grounds and leaking crypts.

Robinson said the meeting is being held in order to brief those who have an interest in the issue about the consent agreement.

“Basically, we have an agreement where there will be a log kept of complaints and responses,” Robinson said.

The full details will be discussed and questions answered during the public session Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Bradley County Commission meeting room at the courthouse.

Robinson said anyone with questions can contact him at the D.A.’s office at 423-472-2179.
