Cynthia Rowland Grant


Cynthia Rowland Grant, 60, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in a local hospital.

She was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Knoxville.

She was a 1975 graduate of Cleveland High School and received her nursing degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing.

She was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church and was employed with Women’s East for many years.

Her mother, Marilyn Free, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Jim Grant Jr.; two sons: Tripp (Amanda) Grant and Chris (Missy) Grant; three grandsons: Dru Grant, Ethan Michael Grant and Kelon Grissom, all of Chattanooga; two brothers: Richard (Kristi) Free of Knoxville and Bobby (Beverly) Rowland of Atlanta; one sister, Mary Alice Free of Cleveland; father, Tom Rowland of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Charlie Grant of East Ridge; brother-in-law, Chuck (Denise) Grant of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 24, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. in the East Chapel with Pastors Ray Williams and Will Lauderback officiating.

Private interment will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Memorial contributions may be made to your charity of choice.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 South Moore Road, Chattanooga TN 37412.
