The Cleveland State baseball team was unable to secure their first win of the season Friday in Barnesville, Ga., as they lost 10-5 and 10-4 in their two games against Gordon State.
“We were outplayed in every phase throughout the series,” Cougar head coach Mike Policastro said.
Two Cleveland State players recorded multiple RBI in the doubleheader. In the first game, first baseman Caleb Hopkins went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk.
In the second game, third baseman Rhett Baldwin posted a pair of "ribbees" and scored a run in his 2-for-4 effort. Right fielder Jonathan Hickman also drove in a run in his 2-for-3 effort.
Former Walker Valley standout Tucker Mendenhall also went 2-for-3 in both games. He has recorded a multi-hit game in three of the four games this season.
The Cougars will be back in action on Monday, as they will play their first two home games of the season against Union College’s JV squad. The doubleheader will get underway at 1 p.m.
