Connon L. Crabb


Connon L. Crabb, 92,  of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at the family residence.  

He was the son of the late Elsie Lavona MacMasters Crabb and Joseph Ezra Crabb.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Crabb; his sisters: Vera Cox, Viola Laws, Madie Whitaker and Margaret Konold; and his brothers: Ora, William, Lilburn, Dallas and Floyd Crabb.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran and while he was on his ship, which was just off the island of Iwo Jima, he witnessed the famous raising of the American Flag on Iwo Jima by watching it through a pair of binoculars.  

He was an airplane mechanic and pilot, working for many companies and retiring from McKee Food.  

He was a family man and he loved his church, the Collegedale Community Church, Seventh-day Adventist, where he was a member.

Survivors include his daughters: Connie Goodman, Carol Clark and Janet Paige and her husband, Marty, all of Cleveland; his son, Joseph Thomas Crabb, M.D. also of Cleveland; his eight grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; his two great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Bessie Taylor of Lawrenceburg; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Military honors will be given.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16,from the Collegedale Community Church, SDA. 

The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services has charge of the arrangements.
