Tennova CEO Foss to leave position

Posted

Coleman Foss, CEO of Tennova Healthcare-Cleveland, announced Tuesday he has made the difficult decision to accept a position that offers better career growth and allows him to be closer to his family.

Foss will remain with Tennova through Jan. 2, 2019, and will then step into his new role overseeing a hospital in LaGrange, Ga.

Since joining the Cleveland hospital in 2007, Foss has steadily increased the number of access points in the community where patients can secure medical services close to home.

Upon arrival, he quickly engaged the medical staff by implementing physician leadership group and worked with the team to drive improvements that have resulted in increased patient, physician and employee satisfaction. There have been many new initiatives that have occurred such as robotic service line development, accredited orthopedic program, and interventional cardiology expansion of services.

“I have tried to establish a culture of patient care that exceeds the four walls of the hospital as it reflects our servant leadership style to guide patient care," Foss said. "I am very proud of all we have accomplished and confident with the team in place to continue this mission."

The search for a new hospital CEO will begin immediately. Members of the board of trustees, medical staff and administration will be involved in the process.

“We appreciate Coleman Foss’s service to our hospital and our communities,” said Bryson M. Kirksey, chairman, Tennova Healthcare-Cleveland Board of Trustees. “Over the past several years, I have become great friends with Coleman. "

Kirksey added, "His position as a leader, not only at the hospital but in our community, will be missed greatly. It has been my pleasure serving alongside Coleman for the past two years and getting to experience first-hand his passion, dedication, and leadership expressed through our hospital."

The board chairman pointed out Tennova Healthcare–Cleveland Tennova works to bring quality, innovative health care to the Cleveland community with comprehensive medical services and an experienced team of physicians and caregivers.

"Tennova Healthcare-Cleveland is actively involved with promoting community-wide health and wellness," he said.

Tennova’s Cleveland location is an acute care facility which includes approximately 350 beds. It is accredited by The Joint Commission, has an accredited Chest Pain Center as recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, accredited Sleep Disorders Center as recognized by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and their Orthopedic Joint Center has received the Gold Seal of Approval with their Certificates of Distinction accreditation from The Joint Commission for their Total Knee & Total Hip Orthopedic Program.

In addition, the women’s program has received a state recognition for being named Best in Babies and BCBS Blue Distinction Award for Women’s Services.

The hospital offers a full range of health care services, including a 7,000-square-foot, 24-hour emergency care unit.
