Cedar Ridge to perform Friday for Cowboy Gospel Jubilee

Cedar Ridge, the multi-talented Bluegrass band from Athens will headline the Cowboy Gospel Jubilee on Friday  at 7 p.m.

“Cedar Ridge is a very talented group of musicians,” said Joel Moore, producer of the free weekly music show. “The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is excited about bringing this band to our stage again. They bring traditional, straight-ahead bluegrass picking - with plenty of heart-felt singing-  to their show.”

This year, Cedar Ridge, established in 1999, celebrates 20 years of Bluegrass picking.

Band members are: Mike Daniels, the founder, who along with pal, Dave King, established the band.  Daniels sings lead and plays lead guitar; tunesmith Kevin Jago, a fine technician on Banjo, and a clear lead and harmony vocalist; acoustic bass player and vocalist, Merielle Flood, who also writes songs and tunes; Tommy Martin, sliding in the sounds of the Dobro and doing multiple vocal parts; and the youngest star, Wesley Wilder, who sings, writes and breathes Bluegrass, shreds the mandolin in their performances.

The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is held at the Cleveland Cowboy Church in the Dockery Heights community at 3040 Blythe Road, off Dockery Lane, between Blue Springs and Blackburn Roads.

Admission is free and a love offering is taken for the headliners.
