Asheville, N.C.— Kelsey Cassada was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, announced by the league Monday. This marked the first edition of the weekly award.
Cassada garnered the award in part due to her finish at the Point University Invitational over the weekend. After shooting an 80 in the first round, placing her in a tie for 10th place, the junior took eight strokes off her score to shoot an even-par 72 on the second day. Her two-day total of 152 placed her in third overall in the tournament.
Not only did her finish help the team win the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs also broke 300 for the first time in program history, shooting a 299 as a team on the second day.
This is the first weekly award this season for the Cleveland native.
