Jacob Williams earns academic award at Maryville College

Jacob Williams of Cleveland, received the Outstanding Senior Award for a Student Majoring in Economics during Maryville College’s annual Academic Awards Ceremony that was held April 6 on the campus of the liberal arts school. The award recognizes the senior student demonstrating outstanding work in economics, outstanding character, well-rounded achievement and career promise.

Williams is a 2015 graduate of Bradley Central High School. 

Maryville College is located in Maryville, and is a nationally ranked institution of higher learning that successfully joins the liberal arts and professional preparation. The college is celebrating its bicentennial in 2019.

Christopher Alexander Darras Named to Sewanee Dean's List

SEWANEE — Christopher Alexander Darras of Ooltewah, has been named to the Dean's List at the University of the South for the Easter 2019 term.
To earn a place on Sewanee's Dean's List, a student must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.625 on a 4.0 scale.
Christopher Alexander Darras is the son of Maria and Chris Darras of Ooltewah.

Isabel Swafford named to Emory & Henry College's spring Dean's List

EMORY, Va. — Isabel Swafford of Cleveland was named to the Emory & Henry College Spring 2019 Dean's List.

Swafford was among more than 200 students named to the Spring 2019 Dean's List.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve at least a 3.6 (A minus) grade point average and must have completed at least 12 credit hours of course work during the semester.

Kyla Downes makes Dean’s List at Williams Baptist University

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. —Williams Baptist University has released the names of students on the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2019 spring semester. 
Kyla Downes of Cleveland was included on the Dean’s List.

The President’s List includes those full-time students who achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while the Dean’s List is comprised of those with at least a 3.5 GPA.
Williams is a private, Christian university in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

Christopher Pistrang makes Vanderbilt Dean's List

Christopher Pistrang, the son of Mark and Wendy Pistrang of Cleveland, has been named to the Dean's List at Vanderbilt University.

Pistrang, a junior, is attending the College of Arts and Science.

Free makes Dean's List at Northeastern U.

BOSTON, Mass.  —  Northeastern University recently recognize those students who distinguish themselves academically during the course of the school year.

Cleveland  resident Christian A. Free, a Northeastern University student majoring in computer engineering/computer science, was recently named to the University's dean's list for the spring semester, which ended in April 2019. 

To achieve the dean's list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during the course of their college career. Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean.

In addition to achieving distinction through the dean's list,  Free is a member of the University Honors Program, which offers high caliber students the chance to further hone their studies and interests, live in special interest on-campus housing, and participate in one or two honors courses each term. Invitation into the honors program is highly competitive and students must maintain a high GPA and strong commitment to campus leadership to remain a part.

Hunter Shamblin named to Dean's List at Cumberlands 

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — In recognition of academic performance, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs at University of the Cumberlands has announced the students named to the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and be in good academic standing.

Local students named to APSU Dean's List

CLARKSVILLE —  Austin Peay State University  recognized students who were on the Dean's List during the spring 2019 semester.

Local students on the Dean's List were Anthony Ferguson of Cleveland, Akashkumar Patel of Cleveland, Trianna Read of Decatur, Robert VanHook of Georgetown,  and Karen Voyles of Cleveland. 

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or greater.
