B.T.I. students to take historical tour

It’s “back to our roots” for the 2019 Bible Training Institute students as they board a bus Saturday for a trip to Fields of the Wood, Cherokee County, N.C.

The Church of God traces its heritage back to the site of the biblical park, where the Church of God made its appearance at the turn of the century. In continuance of the original group, The Church of God reorganized in 1993 under the leadership of the late Robert Pruitt.

In addition to the churches in the United States, the organization has presence in more than 50 countries.

In this area, there are two churches in Cleveland – Zion Hill and Southside – and one in Athens.

On Wednesday night, the graduating class of 22 was in charge of the evening service.

Jacob Anders, the class president, opened the service with prayer. The class motto is “Unity Through Obedience.” The class members led the congregation in the song, “I Surrender All.”

Bill Cox of Virginia preached the message, expanding on the theme of “Walking by the Same Rule, Minding the Same Thing – The Wall Was Finished.”

Communion and feet-washing service will be held on Wednesday at the Zion Hill Church on Tillie Road. Although this is part of the study for the students, the service is not limited to B.T.I. attendees, but is open to the public.

A baptismal service will be held at 3:30 on Thursday.

B.T.I. commencement will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 2 p.m. Dewayne Smith will give the commencement address.
