Brenda Sue Gilbert
Brenda Sue Gilbert, 66, a resident of Knoxville, and formally of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the UT Medical Center.
She was born on June 18, 1951, in Jasper, a daughter of the late Walter “Duck” and Beatrice Rogers.
She enjoyed music, crafts and spending time with her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Gilbert; and five brothers, Sonny, Kelly, Jim, Franklin and Roy Rogers.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two children: James Sidney Doughten of Knoxville and Desrie Ann Black (Daren) of Cleveland; four grandchildren: Clay Doughten, Skyler King and Shania King, all of Cleveland, and LCPL Hunter King of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; one great-granddaughter, Sky King; her beloved fur babies, “Cotton Ball” and “Libby”; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home Cleveland with the Rev. Rob Works officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until the 4 p.m. service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
