Brenda Dixon


Brenda Johnson Dixon, 78, of Naples, Fla., passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019.  

She was born to the late Edward B. Johnson and Frances Worth Johnson of Pahokee, Fla., on Aug. 13, 1940. 

Her older brother, Bobby Joe Johnson; and an infant grandson, Jack Dostal, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Lee Dixon of Naples, Fla.; two daughters: Kimberly Dixon Dostal (Russell) of Tampa, Fla., and Jennifer Leigh Dixon of Dalton, Ga.; one grandson, Tucker Dostal of Tampa; one sister, Marlene Johnson Townsend (John A.) of Lakeland, Fla.; twin brother, Brian Johnson (Helen) of Cleveland; nephews: Eric Johnson (Erica) of Athens, Kevin Townsend of Lakeland, Fla., Rodney Townsend of Abbeville, Ala., and Charles Frank Townsend, of Summerfield, Fla.; and great-nephews: Brandon Johnson of Athens, and Tyler Johnson of Cleveland; numerous cousins; and one aunt, Kathrine Walker Worth of Okeechobee, Fla.

She graduated from Naples High School in 1958. She studied piano under Dr. Delton Alford, later graduating as valedictorian from Lee College (now Lee University) in 1960, with an associates of arts degree in music. She was selected for the college Campus Choir, and the Lee College Touring Choir, (now Lee Singers) and toured throughout the United States and Bahamas while at Lee.

During her career, she served as church secretary, pianist, accompanist, organist, choir director, vocalist, arranger, composer and piano teacher. Her passion was worship through church music. God gifted her in an impactful and profound way.

A memorial service will be held in Cleveland on Monday, July 15, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Westmore Church of God, 2411 Wolfe Drive N.W.
