The Lake Forest Bruins opened basketball action in December as they hosted the Buccaneers of Boyd Buchanan, Monday evening.

The result were not exactly what the home team wanted, as the Bucs opened their season with a three-game sweep.

The varsity contest was a nail-biter to the end, but Jackson Ary’s late basket was the winning score in a 30-28 tally for the visitors.

Jackson Wilson paced the Bruins with 11 points,  while Rodney Williams chipped in six and Jarrius Rogers adding four to lead the home team. Brodie Johnston led the Bucs with 10 in their win.

The seventh-grade game went to the Bucs in a 55-30 loss for the Bruins. Daegan Harris led Bruin scorers with 10 as Zaden Branham accounted for eight additional Bruin points.

The sixth-grade game also went to the boys from Chattanooga ,as they pulled away from a fourth-period tie to win 35-28. Leading the Bruins was Garrett Cross with eight, Payton Varnell with six and Antonio Butts with five.

The Bruins will be in action at McCallie today beginning at 4:30 for a triple-header, while the sixth-grade teams will host Meigs County Friday at 4:30.

Saturday will see a full day of action beginning at 10 a.m. as the Bruins host crosstown rival Cleveland Middle for three boys’ and three girls’ game.
