Blythe-Bower will host its third annual Bobcat Boogie 5-kilometer road race and 1-mile color fun run. In the color event, runners are doused in powder of a wide range of colors at different stations throughout the race. The Bobcat Boogie will be on Friday, March 29. Registration begins at 4 p.m. and the race starts at 6. It will start at the Greenway pavilion in Cleveland. The cost for the race is $25 for the 5K and $10 for the 1-mile event. All pre-registered runners will receive a T-shirt and goody bag. The race is sponsored by Blythe-Bower Elementary and benefits the students and teachers at the school. Each teacher who works the event receives a share of the money raised to use in their classroom. Many teachers will use the money to buy extra things for their classroom such as tablets, flexible seating, school materials and book sets. Some teachers put the money toward educational field trips and STEM activities within the school. Blythe-Bower is the largest elementary school in Cleveland City Schools and has some of the greatest needs. Its students face many various challenges and hardships every day. This fundraiser helps the teachers provide extra opportunities for the students without putting extra financial pressure on their families. Last year, the school raised over $4,000, and this year the goal is just under $5,000. Visit active.com and enter keyword Bobcat Boogie.
