He faithfully served our country from 1966-1968 in Vietnam where he earned multiple purple hearts. He spent his free time playing with his dogs and fishing, both which he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Ann Stinnett; parents, Andrew and Eva Lones; and brothers: James Lones, Herman Lones, and Bill Lones.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children: Mitchell Stinnett (Selma), of Cleveland,  Sherry Hinkle (Jeff Davis), of Telford,  and Tammy Clark (Rusty Huffman), of Elizabethton; sister, Betty Lones, of Richmond, Va.; grandsons, Josh and Michael Clark, Dustin and Stevie Hinkle, and Daniel and Zackary Stinnett; five great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road. They will also host friends on Monday, from noon to 1 p.m.

A celebration of life funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Guinn Green officiating.
